Lake Parkway Extension Takes Another Step

The extension of the Lake Parkway to Highway 100 in Oak Creek was added Wednesday to a regional transportation plan.

A proposed extension of the Lake Parkway through Oak Creek cleared another hurdle Wednesday when the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission unanimously approved the plans. SEWRPC voted to add the project to its Year 2035 Regional Transportation Plan. Under preliminary plans, the Lake Parkway would be extended six miles, from Edgerton Avenue (where it ends now) to Highway 100 in Oak Creek. The biggest hurdle still remains: getting the state to fund the project. County Supervisor Pat Jursik, who has spearheaded the project, said the extension is worth state funding because of its impact on economic development. Oak Creek Man Charged in Drugged-Driving Crash

A 33-year-old suspect rammed into a motorcycle in Cudahy after another man is tried to call the cops to report his reckless driving, according to a criminal complaint.

A 33-year-old Oak Creek man is facing felony charges after he allegedly slammed his SUV into a motorcycle near the intersection of Pennsylvania and College avenues while driving under the influence of drugs. Joseph Robert Liberto was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and second-offense operating while intoxicated-causing injury. If convicted, he faces up to 18 ½ years in prison and $35,000 in fines.
