Oak Creek Bracing For Freeway Closure

Interstate 94 between Rawson Avenue and the Milwaukee-Racine county line will close at 9 p.m. Friday and reopen at 9 a.m. Sunday.

Many motorists stuck in traffic, however, will likely make their own routes. Local and state officials also may begin directing vehicles to streets other than 27th depending on how bad congestion gets, Oak Creek Police Capt. Steve Anderson said. South of Oak Creek, vehicles could be backed up as far as Highway 20, Caledonia Police Chief Toby Schey …

Stage 2 is set to begin March 7, which will result in several ramp closures and more lane closures, and continue until early June. The bridge will be demolished in the summer, and construction will wrap up in late fall, according to the state Department of …

More Construction On Commute Downtown In 2013

Residents traveling on I-94 between Oak Creek and downtown Milwaukee will be impacted by the rehabilitation of 13 bridges between the Marquette Interchange and Howard Avenue.

If you frequently use I-94 to commute to and from downtown Milwaukee, you have more construction to look forward to next year. The state Department of Transportation plans to rehabilitate 13 bridges between the Marquette Interchange and Howard Avenue starting in the spring of 2013. The work will include bridge deck overlays or replacements, bridge repair and painting, according to the DOT's website. Plans call for one lane to be closed during the construction. Officials say they wanted to get the bridge work done before the Hoan Bridge and Zoo Interchange projects, as that stretch of I-94 will be used for detours. while it's good that the officials are rehabilitating the bridge and making good improvements to the infrastructure, the residents staying close to the place could have to bear another year of loud noises. The heavy equipment is bound to cause a racket, and hopefully they will stop work at night and in the early mornings. Looking forward to seeing the finished work! - http://www.…   more ›
