Four countywide officeholders are running unopposed.
Four top Milwaukee County officeholders are up for re-election in November - and each is running unopposed. All are Democrats. They include District Attorney John Chisholm. Chisholm began his career in the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office as an assistant prosecutor in 1994. One of his focuses in office has been community prosecution. He was first elected District Attorney in 2006, replacing retiring longtime D.A. E. Michael McCann. District Attorneys in Wisconsin serve four-year terms. Chisholm earns $128,516 a year. A lead investigator in the John Doe investigation into aides to Gov. Scott Walker during his stint as Milwaukee county executive has a "Recall Walker" sign in the yard of his Wauwatosa home, according to a conservative watchdog group. In a story published Monday morning by Media Trackers, a home identified as that of David Budde, who works for District Attorney John Chisholm, appears in photos with the address number blurred out. Media Trackers' writer Brian Sikma noted that along with the recall sign out front there is a "Blue Fist" union sign in the front door. Officials pledge help for the Sikh community, which has been increasingly victimized by crime.
State Rep. Josh Zepnick and District Attorney John Chisholm visited the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, 7512 S. Howell Ave., on Sunday to discuss public safety issues in the Sikh community. Satwant Singh Kaleka, president of the Sikh Temple, requested the meeting after the July 4 melee in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood, according to a news release from Zepnick's office. Those incidents included the looting of at least one Sikh-owned business. Singh Kaleka told local officials that what was seen in Riverwest has become too common at gas stations and convenience stores owned by members of the Sikh community. Why was there not a news article written about the John Doe being closed after 2 years and clearing Walker??? There were multiple articles linking Walker to the John Doe over the past years. Barrett even made false accusations during the recall campaign.   more ›
