Knights handed out annual awards at year-end banquet March 27.
This week's Oak Creek Patch Whiz Kid recognition goes to a group of OCHS basketball players recently honored at their annual year-end banquet. Under first-year coach Mike Jossie, the varsity Knights finished 6-17, their best record since 2005. And Oak Creek figures to only get better, as it graduates just two seniors. "Oak Creek basketball will continue to improve, as we have the quality of young men involved necessary to be successful," Jossie said in an e-mail. The Knights handed out several awards at its March 27 event. Oak Creek falls 48-31 in Southeast Conference action.
The Oak Creek Knights' boys basketball team knew it would have its work cut out for them Friday night facing the state's seventh-ranked team, Racine Case. It appeared early as though the Knights were up to the challenge, matching Case stride for stride, and even taking an 18-16 lead late in the second half. However, the Southeast Conference’s lone undefeated team proved why it is deserving of the ranking, running away in the second half for a 43-27 victory. The turning point in the game came moments after Oak Creek took the 18-16 lead. With the largest Knights' home crowd of the year starting to get into the game, Case got a big basket to tie the game and then a big stop defensively. On the play, Oak Creek’s star sophomore Terrence Garner …
