Travis Beckum's team won the title, but he tore his ACL.
A former Oak Creek Knight is a Super Bowl champion, though it came with quite a bit of pain. New York Giants' tight end Travis Beckum, a 2005 Oak Creek High School graduate, tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the second quarter. He was jammed by a Patriots linebacker and landed awkwardly on his right leg with 12:55 left. He was taken to the locker room and later returned to the sidelines on crutches. According to the Star-Ledger newspaper, the injury was so bad that Beckum may not be ready by the start of the 2012 season. He will undergo an MRI to determine the full extent of the injury. Giants tight end has been in the shadows this week, but could be key component of win Sunday.

Tight end caught two passes Sunday.
This won't make the loss any easier for Green Bay Packers fans to swallow. Former Oak Creek standout Travis Beckum caught two passes for 22 yards in the New York Giants' stunning 37-20 defeat of the Packers Sunday to eliminate Green Bay from the playoffs. Beckum had a quiet year, statistics-wise, but also came up with a huge play in the teams' first meeting in December - a 67-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter of a game the Giants would eventually lose 38-35. Beckum was a 2005 graduate of Oak Creek High School who went on to play at the University of Wisconsin.
