OCPD Investigates Large-Scale Theft at Walgreens

The store lost about $1,000 worth of razors April 17, according to police. Officers were reviewing surveillance footage in the hopes of identifying three suspects.

Police are looking for three people who stole nearly $1,000 worth of razors from Walgreens, 9449 S. Howell Ave. Officers were reviewing surveillance footage of the theft, which happened about 9 p.m. April 17, and trying to identify the suspects, according to the police department logbook. The store estimated a total loss of $968.

Snow Plow Crashes Into 27th Street Walgreens

The snow plow driver said he "must have blacked out," a witness told police. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and cited by Oak Creek police.

A witness told police a snow plow driver got out of his truck and said he "must have blacked out" after crashing into the Walgreens at 27th and Ryan early New Year's Eve morning. The witness saw the truck go across the median on 27th Street, over the curb and into the Walgreens building just after 6 a.m., according to the Oak Creek Police Department logbook. Patch's media partners at Fox 6 reported the driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control. The building and a Redbox machine sustained minor damage.

Area Man Caught Passing Forged Prescriptions

Daniel Mohammad Alrubaiy told police he "only" changed the prescription from 50 pills to 80.

A 30-year-old Oak Creek man is facing charges after he was allegedly passed forged prescriptions at area pharmacies. Daniel Mohammad Alrubaiy was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Saturday with one count of obtaining a prescription drug by fraud. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail and $500 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On July 25, Alrubaiy went into CVS, 3860 S. 27th St., and tried to fill a prescription for Oxycodone. However, pharmacy staff had already been on the lookout for Alrubaiy after he tried to pass similar forged prescriptions at Walgreens and Aurora pharmacies in the area, so they called police. Oak Creek Woman and Boyfriend Charged in Massive Forged Prescription Ring

Suspects allegedly had people go to pharmacies across the area and try to obtain Oxycodone. They were charged Tuesday along with seven others.

An Oak Creek woman and her boyfriend are facing charges after they allegedly headed up a widespread attempt to pass forged prescriptions for Oxycodone at pharmacies in Oak Creek, Milwaukee, Franklin, West Allis and Greenfield. Barbara C. Flanders, 34, of Oak Creek and Daniel Ellery Sonsthangen, 35, of Milwaukee, were charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday along with seven other people. Authorities say they obtained a stolen prescription pad and used it to pass fake prescriptions across Milwaukee County. According to the criminal complaint: Oak Creek police received word in February that forged prescriptions were being passed at pharmacies across Milwaukee County from a prescription pad stolen from the Shafi Medical Center, 1919 …

UPS Employee Charged With Stealing Pills From Packages

Man told police he starting stealing pills due to addiction.

A 25-year-old UPS employee is facing charges after he allegedly stole hundreds of Oxycodone pills out of boxes passing through the company's Oak Creek facility, 6800 S. 6th St. Jake T. Czerwinski, of Milwaukee, was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with one count of possession of narcotic drugs and one count of theft. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison and $20,000 in fines. According to the criminal complaint: On Feb. 13, police were called to the UPS facility after security staff saw Czerwinski take pills out of a Walgreens package, place them in his pocket, then re-tape the package and send it down the line. When questioned about the theft, he said "you got me," and pulled 97 Oxycodone pills out of his back …

Two Police Departments Cite Man For Causing Disturbances

21-year-old South Milwaukee man arrested early Monday morning.

A man who caused a disturbance at two convenience stores early Monday morning was cited for disorderly conduct by both the Oak Creek and Milwaukee police departments. According to an Oak Creek police report: A 21-year-old South Milwaukee man came into PDQ, 6300 S. 27th St., after midnight Monday appearing to be under the influence, a store employee told police. The man purchased food and attempted to light a pizza pocket on fire and simulate smoking it. He then became angry with a store employee and struck him in the back of the head. The man went to the back of the store and knocked down about a dozen water bottles to the floor before store employees were able to escort him out of the store. In Thick of Flu Season, Plenty of Opportunities to Get Vaccinated

Oak Creek has a number of options for getting a flu shot without having to make an appointment.

With the worst part of the flu season under way, residents still have time and opportunities to get vaccinated. "We still have plenty of flu vaccinations left, and they're available to both residents and non-residents," said Judi Price, health officer at the Oak Creek Health Department. Price said the health department hasn't fielded many requests for flu vaccinations yet this season, typically vaccinating one person a week, but officials are still reaching out to people in the area. "There does seem to be an increase in flu-like symptoms at work areas lately," she said. "This is the beginning of the flu season, right after Christmas, and we're continually watching and monitoring reported cases."
