Check out these spots — declared the best by thousands of Patch readers — in the Milwaukee area.
Patch readers (and fish fry connoisseurs) throughout the Milwaukee area cast thousands of votes over the past five days, helping us determine some of the best fish fry spots in the area. This is the first in a series of stories where Patch will ask readers to give their takes on favorite local businesses and places. The winners of the best fish fry contests were determined over the course of a week, from more than 20,000 votes cast, 145 comments left, 37 restaurant reviews and 100 Facebook Likes or Recommends. Here's a roundup of the winners:

The family-style restaurant on 27th Street narrowly edged out Oak Creek Diner.
Voting ended at 9 a.m. Friday for our Readers' Choice best brunch in Oak Creek contest, and the results were as narrow as could be. Literally - there was a tie between Melrose and Oak Creek Diner, and several other places were close behind. Since the final outcome is dictated by not only the poll, but also comments, Facebook posts, emails and ratings in our directory, we've determined the Melrose is the official winner of the contest. Melrose serves up a family-style meal at 6840 S. 27th St. and is good for any time of the day, really, but especially during the A.M. time period, as Oak Creek Patch readers can attest. So congrats to Melrose and check back for other contests in the near future.

Which restaurant serves your perfect weekend breakfast? Whether it's an early-morning coffee and pastry, sweet French toast or savory egg dish, Patch is looking to name the best spot for a weekend breakfast/brunch in town.
With Mother's Day just around the corner, it seems like a pretty good time to find out where Oak Creek residents stand on the best breakfast or brunch place in town. We took some nominations over the weekend and now we're ready for the vote. We've included Panera, The Dish, Prime Table, Oak Creek Diner, Tazinos, Market Place Cafe, Branded Steer, Brian's Restaurant, The Cellar, Jeff's Restaurant & Bar and Melrose. If you see one we left off, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it to the poll. You'll be able to vote throughout the week, and we'll name the winner on Friday. Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll …

Which restaurant serves your perfect weekend breakfast? Whether it's an early-morning coffee and pastry, sweet French toast or savory egg dish, Patch is looking to name the best spot for a weekend breakfast/brunch in town.
One of the biggest brunch days of the year is on its way: Mother's Day. But really, every weekend is an excuse for a great breakfast or brunch out. During the week, breakfast might be a granola bar eaten in the car on the way to work, but on the weekend, people tend to make time to eat. Pancakes, French toast, eggs, pastries and slowly sipping coffee are perfect for weekend trips to your favorite dining spot. Patch wants to find out your Oak Creek favorites, so tell us in the comments. We're taking submissions through noon Monday. Voting will take place Tuesday-Friday, with a winner named at the end of next week.

La Terraza squeaks out a victory.
Where do people in Oak Creek go when they want a margarita? There are plenty of good local choices in the mix, as this week's Readers' Choice poll showed. But when all the votes and comments were tabulated, La Terraza emerged as the winner of the Best Margarita In Town contest. The restaurant at the corner of Howell and Ryan offers reasonably-priced, authentic Mexican food. When the weather gets warmer, customers can enjoy La Terraza's beautiful enclosed terrace. As for its margaritas, they come in peach, lime, melon, coconut, strawberry and more delicious flavors. So congrats to La Terraza and thanks to everyone who voted. Stay tuned for the next Readers' Choice poll in the near future.
