Plan Commission endorsed plan Tuesday night.
A 120,000-square-foot building that will be leased to American Tire Distributors would receive a $300,000 cash grant under a proposal in front of the Oak Creek Common Council. Mahn Court, on land part of the Oak Creek Commercial and Industrial Park, just off Howell Avenue south of Rawson. The money would be paid from a tax-incremental financing district, a funding mechanism that allows developers or municipalities to borrow money to fund improvements and repay the loan using the property taxes created by the development. Two notable measures get thumbs up from Plan Commission.
The Oak Creek Plan Commission last night approved plans for a Johnstone Supply Co. building on Howell Avenue and $4.5 million in tax assistance for the Sheraton hotel project. The Sheraton measure now goes to the full Common Council for approval. The council previously signaled its support in a preliminary vote back in May. The proposal provides developer Syner G with $4.5 million in assistance through a tax-incremental financing district. Syner G is developing a Four Points by Sheraton hotel and a 1,830-space airport parking lot at the corner of College and Howell avenues. Meanwhile, Johnstone Supply Co. will construct a 24,000-square-foot building at 6890 S. Howell Ave. The commission signed off on site, building and landscaping plans…

Common Council supports $4.5 million measure.

The measure in front of the Oak Creek Plan Commission would provide the hotel developer, Syner G, with $4.5 million in assistance through a tax-incremental financing district. If the commission gives the go-ahead, the measure would go before the Common Council. All six aldermen on the council have already endorsed it. The public hearing will begin shortly after 7 p.m. at City Hall, 8640 S. Howell Ave. The hotel project will also include a 1,830-space airport parking lot. Oak Creek will get 5 percent of gross receipts once the parking lot is operational. Construction is expected to begin this year, City Administrator …
